General Motors last made a profit in Europe only in the 20th century. Gm’s European branch has been losing money since 2000. The losses now account to an astonishingly huge total of $20 billion. Rumours are abounding that GM is considering a sale of the European branch. The suitor is said to be France’s Peugeot. There hasn’t been assuring talks from Peugeot that costs won’t be cut. GM’s history of mistakes is not encouraging in breaking even in Europe.
