New sustainable energy storage: Hydronium Ion battery

At Oregon State University, a sustainable, for high power energy storage, a new kind of battery was developed. It is a first in the world, using hydronium ions as the charge carrier.

For researchers, this battery allows an extra option in the area of stationary storage specially. It is an organic, crystalline and molecular solid material. Dilute sulphuric acid is used as the electrolyte in the battery.

The first author on this study is graduate student Xingfeng Wang.
