UN praises SA’s fight against racism

The United Nations has lauded the efforts taken by South Africa in its fight against racism and intolerance on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. South Africa has marked March 21 as Human Rights day and has also chosen this day to commemorate the 69 unarmed people who were killed in Sharpeville 57 years ago. UN General Assembly President, Peter Thompson has observed the need to promote cross-cultural education in order to make people understand the need for respect and understanding of refugees and migrants and how they also contribute to our societies and economies.
